PORT FAIRY GOLF NEWS FROM 6 SEPTEMBER 2012

A group of 30 women golfers from Lonsdale golf club visited Port Fairy from Wednesday to Friday to play the links course they had heard so much about. Whilst they were able to enjoy the hospitality and had a pleasant time they were unfortunately largely unable to enjoy the golf course due to the inclement weather. Nine holes on Wednesday is all the golf they managed however, they have vowed to return for another attempt at some time in the future.

Helen Wake was one of only 12 women golfers that ventured out on Thursday and she won everything in sight – the medal, putts and best gross. Congratulations Helen.

Luke Dwyer was the men’s medal winner on Saturday shooting a nett 67 to beat Michael Hunt on count back. Ray Matthews won B grade and Tony Eccles was the best of the C graders. Louise Cameron was the best of the women and son Matthew shot a solid nett 71 to win the junior section.
