I want to highlight a few points that may be missed by some golfers and golf Committee personnel:
New Local Rule (24-1)
Movable obstacles in the sand bunkers.
You may move any Shell’s or Rocks that will interfere in you shot making whilst you are in any sand bunkers on the Port Fairy Golf Club .
Captain Port Fairy Golf Club
Just advising you all that the Committee has appointed Anthony Warburton as Golf Professional and Manager of the Golf Shop. We congratulate him on his appointment and are sure he will do well :)
As you may be aware, the Club has been looking at bringing some previously outsourced roles in-house. The aim of this is for us to be better able to service our members. Whilst also returning an acceptable level of control over these services to us, this will also mean that 100% of all profits from sales will be going back to our club and members.
There is obviously going to be an adjustment period during which we will be working hard to iron out any potential issues, we ask all our members for their patience and support during this period as we strive to provide all our members with the best possible service.
Saturday the 18th will be our first day of bringing the catering function in house. We have Dawn starting with us in the kitchen. Dawn will be here for comp days including Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Dawn will also be on hand for various other tasks including event catering and any functions that may come up. If you are about in the clubhouse on comp days, pop down to the kitchen and introduce yourself to Dawn, I’m sure she would love to meet you all.
Familiar faces of Joanna and Anthony will continue to be with us in the Pro Shop providing ongoing great service to all of our members.
The search for a new Operations Manager is well and truly underway. Committee of Management have formed a sub-committee especially tasked with finding a replacement. There have been many applications received and COM will now begin the sorting/interviewing/hiring process. Obviously this is something the committee want to make sure they get right, so they will be taking care and taking their time to ensure it is done properly.
Long serving (30 years) Superintendant Greenkeeper John McIlroy will be retiring from the club from early June. John has proved himself to be invaluable to the Port Fairy Golf Club over the years. There is not too many people out there who can say they have been in the same workplace for 30 years. We thank John for all his efforts and wish him well in all future endeavours. Committee will look to find a replacement in due course.
As always, we welcome your comments and feedback. If you as a member have any concerns please don’t hesitate to contact the club to discuss any suggestions or feedback that you may have. Committee members will do their utmost to answer any questions.
Any formal requests/complaints are best addressed to COM in writing.
Thank you and happy golfing.
